In 2007, I was asked to be in an exhibition called, "Insatiable Streams: Ten Years of the Institute for Electric Arts." The show took place in Beijing, China at several different galleries and art spaces. I made a series of nine cut paper chrysanthemums. I specifically choose to make what is referred to as "Cut Handi-crafts" because of the long history of this type of art work in China. The images of chrysanthemums were cut from centerfolds of adult magazines, 5 female and 4 male. Since the exhibitions were not government sanctioned, I had some flexibility with regards to censorship. I have continued to make these paper cuts based on traditional images of vases, flowers, butterflies, etc. using pages removed from adult magazines and cut by hand using an ex-acto knife.
